WHAT DO YOU LOVE?

"What if education wasn't first and foremost about what we  know,  but about what we  love? "

James K.A. Smith

A love for truth and learning from kindergarten prep through twelfth grade

Because our teachers  love  students and  love teaching their subjects, they inspire a  love  for learning among our students. Our graduates have the highest ACT scores in the Shreveport-Bossier area; but more than that, we are developing students who excel at learning and who are building the critical thinking skills, wisdom, and character that will serve them long after high school and college.

CLASSICAL EDUCATION

Contrast to Modern Ed

In contrast to modern education, we use old (proven) methods reading old (influential) books seeking to teach old (important) skills.

Lifetime Learners

PCA teaches students how to learn by providing them with tools that enable them to explore subjects appropriately at any level. This further promotes their desire and love for learning. Our students are equipped with skills that will make them lifetime learners.

Classes Unique to Classical Education

History (taught from Ancient Civilization through Modern over 3 cycles from Elementary to High School), Latin, Logic, Rhetoric

Grammar Stage (K-5)

What to know (pursuit of knowledge)

The early grades focus on learning through stories, songs, and chants; learning the basics well; and memorizing critical information. We aim to nurture well-informed students.

Logic Stage (6-8)

How to think (pursuit of understanding and reason)

The middle grades focus on thinking skills. Our goal is for students to have wisdom and eloquence as they seek to understand the "why" and "how." We aim to nurture good thinkers.

Rhetoric Stage (9-12)

How to live in light of truth and communicate it (pursuit of wisdom and skills of expression)

Our High School grades focus on helping students to give meaning to, apply, express, and live out the truth. We want our students to live in light of what they believe.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

The Story of the Bible

God made all things good (Creation). The world and everything and everyone in it has been polluted and He judged sin (the Fall). God reclaimed all things to Himself through the life and death of Jesus Christ (Redemption). One day, God will make all things new and completely restore the world to Himself (Restoration).

Discipleship

We want our students to benefit from life-on-life discipleship so that they become mature and equipped followers of Christ committed to discipling others.

Worldview Shaping

We seek to teach and model that all of life belongs to God, and all of life (from law to business to neighboring) is to be lived for His glory. We diligently strive to train our students to think in a distinctively Biblical way, to be discerning believers, learning to see the world and the different subjects as God sees them.

· We want our students to trust, love, and live for Jesus in all of life.

· We want our students to know the Scriptures.

· We want our students to connect all their subjects with Biblical truth.
